Prof. Dr. Song YAN is Professor of Psychology at Jacobs University Bremen, Germany. Dr. Yan graduated from Peking University with Bachelor of Philosophy and Bachelor of Science in Psychology degrees. She gained a master’s degree from the University of Bonn and a doctoral degree in natural sciences (Dr. rer. nat.) from the University of Göttingen. She has held a number of honorary academic positions in China: adjunct, guest and honorary distinguished professor. Her main research interest has been cultural influences/language effects on mental processes and behavior, focusing on basic processes such as memory, attention, mathematical operations, and language processing, as well as subjective well-being, parenting, and education. She was the main contributor to the chapter on cross-cultural cognitive research in the German Encyclopedia of Psychology, she is currently an editorial board member and reviewer for several academic journals. As well as basic research, she has carried out studies in applied settings, including cross-cultural management, leadership, intercultural communication. She has been a consultant for multinational companies. Professor Yan has been a keynote speaker at a number of international conferences.
Prof. T.C. Edwin Cheng, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China
T. C. Edwin Cheng received the B.Sc. degree in industrial engineering (first-class Hons.) from the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, in 1979, the M.Sc. degree in industrial management from the University of Birmingham, Birmingham, U.K., in 1980, and the Ph.D. and Sc.D. degrees in operations research from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, U.K., in 1984 and 2007, respectively.,He is the Dean of the Faculty of Business, the Fung Yiu King–Wing Hang Bank Professor in business administration, and the Chair Professor of management with Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. He has previously taught in Canada, U.K., and Singapore. His research interests include operations management and operations research. He has published more than 680 papers in journals such as California Management Review, the Journal of Operations Management, Management Science, MIS Quarterly , Operations Research, Organization Science, and Production and Operations Management. He has co-authored 14 books published by Chapman and Hall, McGraw-Hill, and Springer.,Prof. Cheng received the Outstanding Young Engineer of the Year Award from the Institute of Industrial Engineers, USA, in 1992, and the Croucher Award (the top research award in Hong Kong) in 2001. He was elected Academician of the International Academy for Systems and Cybernetic Sciences in 2016. He was named one of the “Most Cited Scientists” in all fields, in business and economics, in computer science, and in engineering over the period 2007–2017 by the ISI Web of Science in 2017. He is a registered Professional Engineer and a seasoned Management Consultant. He has over the years secured more than HK$50 million in research funding from both public and private sectors to support his diverse research programs. He is Professor of Product Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Vice President of National Taipei University of Business, Taiwan; Associate Editor in Journal of Innovation & Knowledge; Editor-in-Chief in International Journal of Business Economics; Associate Editor in Journal of Business Research; Founder Governor of Global Innovation and Knowledge Academy (GIKA). Also, he is Life Fellow of International Society of Management Engineers and received Outstanding Service Award in the Literati Network 2008 Awards for Excellence, Emerald (2008).
